Paul Kalnitz

Paul Kalnitz is an architect and computer scientist interested in the relationship between architectural design and computation. His research focuses on artificial intelligence techniques inspired by nature, specifically evolution. He is PhD researcher at the Architecture and Town Planning Dept. at the Technion University in Haifa, Israel.

In collaboration with the architecture firm O-S-A, his work has appeared in the Rhode Island School of Design as well as the Tel Aviv Museum of Art. Previously, he worked as a software developer for a hitech firm in Tel Aviv, in the field of Natural Language Processing and Machine Learning. He was instrumental in developing the first generation of smart keyboards.  His research included the invention of what has become known as theming, the addition of color and background images to virtual keyboards. Earlier, Paul collaborated with Architect James H. Johnson in Rochester, NY on the design of a gateway to the city. His interests include architecture, sculpture, systems biology, and software.
